Treasurer’s report / Budget
Report by Don Gracia
- Current Balance: $30.377.07 as of 10/31/07
- Collected $5,500 more
than budgeted for 2006-2007
- 2006-2007 budget
included breakaway bases to be paid during 2007-2008
- Have
received income from Employer Matching Funds – Microsoft and Time Warner.
Thank you to all who request matching funds from eligible employers.
- Budget works is
continuing for 2007-08.
- Payments to Woodinville
West (WWLL) for 2006-2007 season:
- WLL has paid
proportional share of agreed amounts from 2 SB invoices plus 1 JR/SR invoice
from WWLL.
- WLL has sent
Woodinville West an invoice for $1,366.80 which is offset against
3rd SB invoice in final payment for 2006-2007 season.
Registration
- Registration opened
November 1st
- There is a Donation
field available during registration. WLL has already been receiving donations.
Donations of $100 or more to receive recognition if approved by donor.
- Approx 80 registrations
have occurred so far.
- Volunteer applications
are part of the registration process.
- 35
volunteer applications have been received.
- Note
of possible problem during the volunteer application process. Investigation on
extending the timeout value will occur to help with completing the volunteer
application.
- All
volunteer applications are reviewed and entered in ChoicePoint by the secretary, results from the background
checks are reviewed by the President, & approved volunteers are posted on
website.
- Registration signs are
being placed around the area. Additional signs to be placed as the political
election signs are removed.
- There is no face-to-face
registration.
- Official waivers require
annual written form and are approved by league president and district
administrator. WLL has no approved official waivers.
- Registration is open
from November 1 to November 30, 2007. Late registration, with an increase fee,
from December 1 to December 15, 2007. Late registration along with an increase
in fee AND being put on the Wait List for any registration after December 15,
2007.
- Registration is
completed by age (7-9, 10-12, etc.). To use team function need registration
converted to level (AA, AAA, MN, etc.).
Tech Committee:
Committee is being formed. Chairman Don McNamara is looking
for those interested in helping create a unified web presence.
- Rich
Janshen, John Hamilton, Brian Marantz, Mich Earl, Jack Winter have
volunteered.
- Determine best web
options. Continue and enhance CMI & WLL website or new website.
- Reminder: BOD members
have been asked to review (check for accuracy & completeness) specific
pages on the WLL website and get updates to Jack.
Levels of Play:
- LL
requirement that all age 12 must play majors for both Baseball & Softball.
- Discussion of having age
11 mandatory for at least minors for both Baseball & Softball.
- Motion: Those players
who are age 11 at the ‘league age deadline’ are required to play at least at
the Minors level for Baseball and Softball programs in the WLL. PASSED.
Softball:
- Richard Janshen is
working on a business plan agreement between WLL and Woodinville West Little
League (WWLL) for Softball levels Minors (MN) & Majors (MJ) & JR/SR.
WLL is expected to have no co-league for levels below Minors.
Managers:
- Dates for meetings have
been posted to the WLL calendar on the website: Manager meetings, Training, Safety, etc.
- The
application and contract for those which to be a Manager and All-Stars manager
are part of the registration process/volunteer application process on the CMI
registration website.
- Manager and Coach staff evaluations are being processed for 2006-2007.
Results will be used for upcoming Manager selection
process and committee.
Team Names:
- Kerri Fredrickson is in
charge of team uniform equipment orders.
- Discussion of BB team
names: Team names for 2008 season are as follows via motion – PASSED.
- All
levels except BB Majors are as follows:
- Mariners
- Red Sox
- Cardinals
- Orioles
- Cubs
- Rockies
- Giants as
7th team for division having 7 teams.
- BB
Majors team names will remain the same as the previous season, unless redraft
required then sync with other levels.
- Yankees
- Orioles
- Mariners
- Angels
- Giants
Fields:
Discussion of field allocation to continue next month. Number
of practices/team/level, practice times priority, number of games/team/level,
field usage for games, etc.
Calendar:
- Calendar is updated to
reflect upcoming events and meetings for 2007-2008.
- Rooms are being reserve,
where necessary.
- Investigation will occur
to help determine any blocking school events, such as recitals, grade-level
field trips, and things like Camp Casey.
LL, D8, NAF, and Interleague Updates
- VP
SB is representative for SB interleague.
- VP
JR/SR is representative for JR/SR interleague.
- NAF
representative report.
- Discussion included
access to facilities, appearance of facilities, and if there needs to be a
field day cleanup of NAF.
- King County grant of $50K has been received.
- There has been a
request for equipment to help clear overgrown bushes.
- Field 4: Hope to
improve playability. Looking at safety improvements to bleachers.
Safety:
Roger Kacmarcik is returning safety officer and responsible
for safety program this season.
Umpires:
No report.
Other:
- Jamboree
- WLL’s largest
fundraising event of the season. Will be held in April, 2008.
- Tony Owens in the
chairman of this committee, and is seeking help/volunteers.
- Chair agreed that
would like to do team raffle baskets again this season.
- Kids fundraiser: May
do helmets, a batting bag, or something else. Need a plan for the kids
fundraiser. May be held pre-jamboree.
- Winter Workouts
(off-season). Informal.
- Picture
Day. WLL has rented Timbercrest Jr Hi cafeteria and the main gym which will
require additional coordination.
