JR-SR, Softball
- Proposal
to manage programs independently.
- Expect
current board volunteers (Uniforms, equipment, scheduler, umpire, etc.) to
help manage program and need additional support from softball only
volunteers.
- Need
a VP for Softball.
- Discussion
about shared equipment with Woodinville West. Prior years Woodinville
placed all Softball equipment with Woodinville West to manage program,
Woodinville contributed all Softball proceeds to Woodinville West for
prior years which would have replaced or bought equipment, tentative
agreement to split current equipment 50/50 with Woodinville West.
Additional equipment may need to be purchased.

registration dates will be November 1 to November 30, 2007.
- Late
registration with increased fee will be accepted until December 15, 2007.

No exceptions.
NAF Update
- Paul
Johnson, WLL rep for last season is not returning. Thank You Paul for all
your years of service.
- List
of items for BOD Rep (Jack Winter) to discuss at the upcoming NAF meeting:
- Pitching
mounds for Fields 6 and 7
- Lights,
Chalk, Parking Lot, Bullpens
- Scoreboards
- Keep
off of the fields when not in use
- Rake
fields before and after games.
- Improve
infield (field 6 & 7), improve mounds (field 4 holes, mound mix on
fields 2 & 5).
- WLL paid
approximately $17K for field usage for 2007
- A
big thank to all volunteers who held with landscaping, field improvements,
scoreboard, and all other work. (Scott Thornber, Sally McKissick, John
Hamilton).
- New
scoreboard on field 5 for 2007.
- NAF cash
position is very low. Grant money from King County has not arrived yet.
Without grant money NAF leagues may be asked to prepay 2008 fees by
10/2007.
Safety
- Breakaway
Bases at ALL fields for all levels of play required by Little League (LL)
charter for 2008 season.
- Volunteer
Applications.
·
All league volunteers including Board members
must fill out a new volunteer application each season.
·
WLL will require social security number.
Applications will not be accepted without it.
·
Picture ID is required for additional
identification.
·
National background checks are required by LL
charter. Beginning 1/2008 LL will provide 80 free checks through ChoicePoint.
WLL used ChoicePoint last season, the cost is $1 per background check.
·
Background checks are confidential. WLL
President is responsible for background checks. The collection of applications
and supporting information plus data entry in ChoicePoint has been delegated to
the WLL Secretary.
·
Any results (positive or false-positive hits)
are reviewed by the President. A discussion to have the President request
volunteers for a small committee to help in decision making regarding positive
hits may be accepted. Any committee would have no information to identify
volunteers but would discuss results to determine if a volunteer is accepted or
not.
·
Definition of volunteer discussed. LL expects
Manager plus 2 coaches plus 6 additional volunteers for every team. Discussion
about who is a volunteer that works with the kids vs who is just volunteering
and never interacts with the kids vs who is just a bystander who never
interacts with the kids. More discussion next month.
