Treasurers / Financial Report

Don Gracia not in attendance. Report sent via email earlier.

  • Registration fees brought in $5,700 more than estimated.
  • Microsoft matching contributions are coming in. More is expected.
  • Planned expenditures are now occurring and invoices are arriving for payment of hard goods such as baseball equipment, bases, pitching machines, balls, portable mounds, uniforms.
  • “Unbudgeted but very well thought out” donation to Bainbridge Island Little League.
  • Pitching Machines were over budget by $600. Additional machines for softball teams.
  • Umpire equipment under budget.
  • More expenditures for forward planning
  • Still upcoming expenditures for school field breakaway bases.
  • Softball equipment purchases have occurred - uniforms, supplies, field use.

NAF/Interleague/D8

  • Scott Thornber has been busy at the NAF.
  • Field 2 now has infield grass. Looks great.
  • Field 5 is still a work in progress. Target end of 4/2007.

TOC

  • Tournament Trophies for Woodinville Minors and Majors teams being ordered.
  • Northshore LL is handling TOC trophies.
  • Woodinville will purchase TOC participation pins.
  • Communications between the leagues involved is starting. Eric Mischke is WLL rep.
  • North Bothell is the host of the TOC.
  • WLL will host web information for the TOC.
  • Umpire-in-Chief (UIC) for the TOC is Woodinville West

Photo Day

  • Day went well.
  • 48 teams had their team and individual pictures. Only one fire alarm occurred.
  • No Woodinville make up day needed, so no expense needed—has been cancelled.
  • April 28th is Woodinville West makeup day if anyone needs to retake pictures.

Safety

  • Woodinville Little League Safety Plan approved from Little League Int’l
  • Safety supplies received. Restocking boxes on a regular basis.
  • Defibrillator arrived. It will be kept at the concession stand at NAF. The device and supplies were originally donated by Medtronics.
  • Reminder: No bat swinging at NAF fields unless in a batters box or JR/SR on deck circle.

Rules Clarification:

  • 1st/3rd base coaches – The web site needs to be updated to for base coaches—2 coaches or 1 coach 1 player with helmet.
  • Pitch count rules apply to all kid pitchers. Local rules for AAA & AA to be updated by Eric for review and posting to web. Summary: AAA-2 inning max per pitcher, AA-1 inning; 50 pitches max for AA & AAA; days of rest apply.
  • Mandatory use of pitching machines at Rookie and AA.

Coaching Items:

  • Possible pitching clinic for next season. Investigation and discussion is ongoing.
  • Need to enforce attendance at coaching clinics. Could impact coach selection if no clinic for 2007 season. 2008 season will have same requirement that manager must attend at least 1 clinic for 2008 season.
  • Discussion of upcoming Manager Evaluation Form. Board members will hand deliver and hand collect evaluations around the start of the LCT.

Softball and Baseball:

  • Woodinville West pays for league time at batting cages.
  • May want to investigate doing this for next season

Fields Update:

  • Raking fields.  Teams need to rake after each game or each practice and last game of the day needs extra care to limit potential for overnight rain puddles.
  • Clean up garbage.

Jamboree:

  • Need to send a reminder about the baskets to coaches.
  • Need to send a reminder about the Jamboree events in general, especially the Base-a-thon, raffles, and the Mariners tickets.
  • Brian will send out a notice to all registrants via the CMI database.

Board Items:

  • There will be a few openings on the 2008 Board. Looking for volunteers.
  • Planning for End of Season Umpire/Board Appreciation Dinner. Date and planning will be handled by Eric.
  • Donation to Bainbridge Island Little League occurred. Brian Marantz met with Mike Sheehan, President of their league, to deliver the check. They were very grateful and could not thank us enough. Mike Sheehan wants to ensure that they will publicly recognize the WLL at their Jamboree for the generous donation. They are recovering from their loss, but some things will be un-replaceable.
