Treasurer Report for 2005-2006 report by previous Treasurer

Report by Sue Scheid

  • See attached Treasurers Report, May-August 2006 Final
    • Beginning balance on 4/28/06 was $60,327.63
    • Ending balance on 8/30/06 was $29,892.48
  • New Treasurer CPA, but recommend keeping existing CPA for tax preparation since it is “pro-bono”, and we have an existing relationship.
  • Had 5 members use Microsoft matching funds.  Should determine if we have any new members that can use Microsoft or other matching funds. Agreed to encourage Microsoft employees to participate in matching.
  • Current bank signer out going treasurer (Sue Scheid) and Registrar (Julie Byram). Need to change signer to new treasurer (Don Gracia).

Age Change

Report Rob Schwend

  • WLBB adopted LL age change rules last yr with no exceptions. No further age change issues.

Softball & Jr/Sr

Report by Rob Schwend

  • Discussion of taking back control of  Softball & Jr/Sr program.
  • Last year, Woodinville West managed this.  WLBB paid $11,600+ to manage both programs.
  • If WLBB retains control, we would need VP, scheduler, equipment manager, uniforms, player agents, scheduling & fields, etc.
  • New elected VP for each program. Need to encourage additional participation in decision by affected parents. Need to recommend to board if WLBB can retain control of program.
  • Softball plays on an ‘interleague’ basis all year.  Need to coordinate this.

Meeting Dates

  • Evergreen Room, Woodinville Community Center
  • First Tuesday of each month—October 2006, thru June, 2007
    • Except for January 2007.  It would be 2nd Tuesday, 1/9/07.

Pitch Count

Report by Rob Schwend

  • Last year, WLBB used a Pilot Program of new pitch count rules
  • These were approved by Little League Baseball with some changes to days rest.
  • Little League expected to add clarification to pitch count rules RE pitches to finish batter, official pitch counter, etc.
  • Will need to review for playoff and TOC issues, including rest days.
  • Field Dimensions will remain the same
    • 225’ at LL WS, recommended 200’ state/regional and majors play.
    • Recommended 180’ for minors

Minors/Majors strategy

Forecast for 2007 season

Estimation for Majors

  • 24 returning majors players
  • 24, 12yr olds going to majors from minors (pending safety issues)
  • 34, 11yr olds eligible for majors (pending tryout and safety issues)
  • 9, 11yr olds were eligible in 2006 year, but did not play at majors level
  • 19, 11yr olds not eligible for majors in 2006 because of 1 year minor requirement
  • 6 teams, 12 players or 7 teams at 12 players
  • Target to 8, 12 year olds on each team.
  • Discussion at the October 2006 Board Meeting
    • Some majors players won’t have a team to return to.  How to handle this?
    • Discussion of how many teams, new vs. returning.
    • League rule 10 year olds in minors.
    • 6 teams (1 new manager from minors) or 7 teams (2 new managers from minors)
