WLL Meeting called to order.

Minutes for April reviewed and correct.

 

Paul Johnson – End of Season Celebration and Fundraiser.

This would be in concert with the Coldstone and Qdoba Community Business in Woodinville in support of League and year end tournament.

Draft letter and flyer handed out.

Raffle and sweatshirt sales could get us $2000.

 

Put on Website.

Be the sole partner with Woodinville.

 

Need Moose to get the crowd and community draw.

Work on more raffle items, call Linda about permit.

 

 

Agenda

 

Pitching rule violations continue to come up.

What are the consequences? As a board we do not have a set policy on penalty.

Written warning.

Suspension for next scheduled game.

Suspension for remaining season.

 

All teams are faced with the pitching scenario.

 

In the case of the Yankee manager, he may not be violating with this intentionally and there may be other forces as face.

Board

Issue warning

 

Motion to establish a policy on penalty for pitching violations, effective immediately and to be served form this date forward.

Motion carried and approved. 14 members present.

Current violations will be issued a written warning.  Affected team managers to be notified.

Coaching evaluation will include this information for next year.

 

 

Sliding at home rule is inconsistent among the umpires.

Action at plate and no play could be called a warning.

It is a judgment situation.

 

Mike S will communicate to umpires, come up wth a consistent rule and then communicate back to the managers and the Board.

 

 

All Stars

 

Committee has agreed upon a selection process. As described in agenda and laid out by the committee.

Feed back from members Next year would be a more appropriate time to invoke the try-out process for team formation.

Manager selection – 6

 

Discussion is that the kids know who the players are. Experience says that the kids have nailed it the last few years. There is much to be said on how the kids  view their peers.

 

Minors will vote Major and Major will vote Minor.

All Star absences are played by National rule, needs to be an excused absences.

 

Motion to go 6 and 6 for All Star selection. Motion carried and approved.

 

Committee is recommending the following for Minor All Star Staff.

Motion to accept Manager and Coaches for Minors.

 

Committee is recommending the following for Major All Star Staff.

 

Manager Littlefield

Coach  Larsen

Coach Palucci

 

Discussion on participation for players  and establish elegibility policy.

 

Missing an All Star Game and or All Star Practice will only be excused with a Doctors note describing the injury or illness. In addition a death in the family would be a legitimate excuse.

 

Motion to accept Manager Littlefield and Coach Palucci. Motion approved and carried.

 

Additional coach to be named after a conversation with candidates.

 

 

 

Tournament Rules

 

Rule 404 for WLL is to bat the order for Majors. Discussion on batting order will open a can of worms if there are substitutions allowed in the tournament. Tournament competition could be more lively.

All of D8 is doing this but in an effort to make more competitive we will adopt 129.

This will be for the minor and major.

Only becomes an issue if minimum play is not followed.

 

Motion to suspend rule 404 and imply minimum playing time rule for Majors, carried and approved.

1 vote opposing, 13 votes in favor.

 

 

Practices during tournament times need to be limited or cancelled.

Field priorities will be given to tournament play and Janet will give the coaches who call field options.

 

 

Umpire

 

Mike gave us a draft evaluation for the Leagues umpires.

Feed back and discussion on additional items to be added to the forms.

This will be handed out to the managers at the Tournament.

 

Addition Evaluation for League and Board.

Suggestion to get some board feedback and possibly use the form that Darlene developed.

This would also be a good recruiting tool.

Want to get all this feedback from all levels of players.

 

 

 

Mike offered printing services at NSD print shop and gave a suggestion/example of a fundraising idea for a home run derby.

Mike can be called at 425-489-6272 NSD Print Shop.

 

Umpires can also evaluate Managers.

 

Kerri gave Darlene an example of a hat which we all like and is a Woodinville High Hat. We like.
