The hope is to gain $15,000.00 through Sponsors and
Fundraising efforts.
A BAT-A-THON was proposed for
further fundraising. This could earn the
League hundreds of dollars. The
committee is reviewing the possibility of this.
Grant Proposal Update - Jocelyn
Jocelyn is looking for a few
people to help out with the Grant Committee
Possible Grants:
Baseball Tomorrow - a Fund Grant that would go towards the efforts in
financing new programs and improve old ones. The Grant would also be used to
acquire new facilities and equipment. A
letter of inquiry and grant application would need to be sent in a timely manner
to meet one of four deadlines (1/1/04, 4/1/04, 7/1/04 & 10/1/04).
It is proposed WLL address the following before
proceeding with any grant application process:
- Gather community support through Public
Relations, showing there is a need to upgrade our fields and facilities
and the corresponding benefits it would have to surrounding areas.
- Asses the actual needs through players and
participants of WLL
- Gain input through baseball professional (major,
minor etc.).
- Letters of support from community leaders showing
a need for improvements.
Since the timeframe for this
project could be anywhere from 2-10 years*, a special New Park
committee would greatly benefit our funding needs.
The WLL New Baseball Park Committee would be comprised of members from the WLL Board, King County
Parks and Rec. and
community business leaders.
- Partnering with surrounding leagues, possibly
having a joint complex, may encourage possible support and grant
opportunities.
*WLL baseball field lease
expires in 2015.
Replacement of the AL & AL Clinic – Charlie
How should the committee
replace the AL and AL Clinic?
Possible Suggestions:
1. Rio Clinic – Former Cincinnati Reds Player runs this
clinic.
2. Northshore Batting Clinic – costs about $150.00 per
team
3. Video tapes for coaches and players to improve
teaching and Individual performance.
Safety Plan – Dave
- A specific time and place for the annual
Manager/Coaches Safety Meeting has not been confirmed yet.
This is what has been suggested
- Managers and coaches are to meet after the
Jamboree to receive their first aid kits
- Mike Helbock is to demonstrate first aid
techniques at that time
Picture Day
- March 13th at Timbercrest
Middle School in the
cafeteria.
- The Vendor, Remember When Photography, has offered a three year agreement with WLL.
Registration – Sign-ups
- Friday from 5-8 PM and Saturday from 10AM-2PM at Cottage Lake
Elementary.
- If you have equipment or safety kits, please
return them at this time. The items in the safety kit need to be checked
for expiration.
Uniform Selection
- It was agreed by the board to keep The New York
Yankee Uniforms
- Uniform selection can be from either the
American or National League to help integrate more distinct colors between
teams.
