All StarsChampions2006 Baseball Majors District 8 ChampionsAll Star Selections Thank you for participating in the All Star process (a summary can be found below) for Woodinville Little League this season. The selection process included but is not limited to (a) the top 4-6 vote getters for each level, (b) statistics calculated from Team scorebooks, and (c) evaluation feedback collected from the Managers at Minors and Majors. Baseball (BB)
Softball (SB) All Star Selection Process (as of 2006-2007 season) 1) The League President will select the All Star Managers before the May Board of Directors (BOD) meeting. a) Written statements from prospective Coaches plus observations of interactions by Coaches with the League and their Teams will be evaluated by the President in making selections. i) All Coaches selected must have attended (or will attend before the All Star Tournament begins) the Dr Smoll clinic within the last 5 years b) Early selection of All Star Managers will allow them to evaluate and select Coaches. i) Managers will be given a list of coaching candidates who have requested to be considered as All Star Coaches. They will use any criteria they choose to evaluate Coaches. ii) The President will make a formal announcement of both the Manager and their Coach selections for each level to the BOD. iii) Managers will be able to prepare criteria for evaluating players. A longer evaluation period will provide a more accurate picture of a player’s baseball and sportsmanship skills. They will have time to scout players from regular season teams. 2) Any player in Minors or Majors, age 9-12 will have their name placed on the All Star ballot provided that their parent has signed the 2007 All Star Commitment form by the League deadline. a) At a minimum, Players and Parents must agree to not miss any practices or games or team activities from June 16th through the end of July for the 9-10 and 10-11 year old teams or late August for the 11-12 year old team. Additional standards may be enforced. b) Players can and will be replaced by actions of the League President if they do not meet availability standards established by the League or Managers. 3) Players, Coaches and Managers will vote for 4-6 players during the League Championship Tournament (LCT). a) The vote will be executed and sealed by a BOD member. i) Players, Coaches, and Managers will be asked to keep in mind the qualities that the League demands of an All Star player. (1) Players exemplify good sportsmanship and team spirit at all times. (2) Players consistently perform baseball skills such as fielding, hitting and running extremely well. (3) Players are highly skilled at pitching or playing more than one position. ii) Players, Coaches, and Managers may vote for teammates as well as Players on other teams. Players may vote for themselves. iii) Managers and Coaches are encouraged to look at all Players, not just the ones on their team. b) The top 4-6 vote getters are automatically on the All Star team for each level. i) All votes will be tallied by the President and re-tallied by another board member to ensure accuracy. ii) Results of the voting will be shared by the League President with the All Star Managers. 4) The All Star managers will then begin selecting the remaining players for a maximum of 14 players. The manager will use a variety of methods to select the All Star Players including but not limited to a) Statistics calculated from Team scorebooks. b) Evaluation feedback collected from the Managers at Minors and Majors. c) Any other criteria they choose to evaluate Players. 5) All Star Managers will make a list of selected Players available to the President by the night before the All Star announcements for approval. a) The President will announce the selected All Star players to the BOD. b) Per Little League rule Players can only be notified of their selection to the All Star team on June 15th, or 2 weeks prior to the start of the All Star Tournament. c) The President will make a list of the selected All Star players available to the League Website on June 15th. d) All Stars will be announced at the Northshore Athletic Fields (NAF) on June 15th following the conclusion of the Tournament of Champions (TOC) as part of a formal ceremony acknowledging the selected Player’s accomplishments. |
