Player Placement Guidelines

Please refer to the Levels of Play for more detailed information on player progression.

Teams at Majors (MJ), Minors (MN), & above are formed by a draft process following a player review. The dates for the player review are on the Calendar.

All other teams are formed via player placement. The overriding goal for younger players ages 5-9 is to have fun and learn baseball/softball skills. At this age, having fun also means playing on a team with friends in the child’s peer group. To reach this objective, teams are formed by the Player Agent (PA) according to the following criteria:

1)     Special Requests - Special requests are entered during registration. This request can be anything from playing with other children and/or a specific coach. This helps the PA to place children with friends.

2)     Public School Neighborhood – Teams will usually be balanced with players from 2 schools unless there is a special request.

3)     Roster Size – Team size is targeted at 12 players.

4)     Safety Issues – Players may be placed outside of their peer group at the discretion of the Board of Directors (BOD). This would be based on knowledge of a child’s playing skills as either too advanced (throws or hits too hard for a certain level) or not developed enough (unable to protect self appropriately for the level of play).

I’m ready to register!

REGISTER This link takes you to the CMI registration website ‘Programs’ page. Complete the following steps.

1)     Select from the program type of Baseball (BB) or Softball (SB), your child’s program age, and then confirm your program.

2)     Use the ‘Tell a friend’ button to remind your child’s friends & classmates to register.

3)     Select register.

4)     Have you signed up for WLL before?

a.     If you registered online last season select ‘Yes’ and log in by entering your username and password.

b.    If you have not previously registered select ‘No’ and register as a ‘Member’.

5)     Complete registration. If you have an account you must update questions (e.g. child’s grade level, what level did your child play last year?, any inaccurate or incomplete information), plus you must provide additional information during registration.

6)     Pay at ‘Checkout’.

7)     After you complete the registration for each child you need to Volunteer on your child’s team. The volunteer list includes Board of Director (BOD), Umpire (UMP), Manager, Coach, plus other team or league volunteers. Parents each register as volunteers separately. If you are applying for more than one role, you will need to complete more than one volunteer application but you will only need to answer volunteer questions once because they will also appear on your additional volunteer application automatically.

8)     If you cannot volunteer your time we would appreciate if you could Donate to WLL in support of our programs. Additional information is available on the ‘Donate’ page of the CMI website.
